Gijsbrecht
In Gijsbrecht, the curtain drops for the great city of Amsterdam. On Christmas Eve, the yokels from Noord-Holland conquer and destroy Amsterdam through foul play. The city is on fire, and the battle lost before it started. And Gijsbrecht himself? Like a true hero he tries - against his better judgement - to save his beautiful city from demise.
The theater performance Gijsbrecht was created for high school students. In this adaptation of Vondel's classic, Amsterdam perishes and Gijsbrecht, the tragic hero, leaves town.
